Lincoln - The Nautilus
A public art installation at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport, inspired by the Lincoln Motor Company
For the launch of Lincoln’s newest vehicle, The Nautilus, we wanted to break from the traditional norms of auto advertising. Instead of developing creative that showcased the classic “car porn” shots, or bombard consumers with a litany of features they’d never use, we built a public art installation in downtown Manhattan. The installation took the technology at the core of the vehicle, and used it to produce an engaging experience in the Seaport District. The installation, aptly named The Nautilus, is made up of 95 interactive poles, each connected to a series of sensors, LED lights and speakers. Upon a person’s touch, the installation immediately responds with a choreographed light and audio show.
The story behind the installation was documented on TheAtlantic.com with an originally produced video, interactive moments that brought you inside the installation, and an originally produced piece on the making of the art.
